Delete your data
Applies to the WhoseNight app by Jon Simpson
Almost everything WhoseNight knows lives only on your own phone. This page explains how to delete the two kinds of data that can ever reach our server, and what happens to each.
Your schedule, kids, and settings (on your device)
These are stored only on your phone and in your own device backup. To erase them, delete the app, or remove individual kids and schedules inside the app. We never had a copy, so there is nothing for us to delete on our side.
Your shared calendar (on our server, only if you turned on sharing)
If you published a shared calendar, that calendar content is stored on our server so the other home can view it. To delete it:
- Open WhoseNight
- Go to Settings, then Sharing
- Turn sharing off
The server copy is removed immediately: both the calendar link and the web link stop working the moment you turn sharing off. There is no retention period; deletion is instant and permanent.
Support messages (on our server, only if you contacted us)
If you sent us a message through Help and Support, we keep that message, and your email address if you included one, so we can reply to you. To have it deleted, email support@whosenight.app from any address and ask us to delete your support history. We will delete the messages and confirm within 7 days.
What we keep
WhoseNight has no accounts and no advertising, so there is no personal profile to delete anywhere. The one thing the app sends for its own improvement is anonymous usage, tied to a random identifier that is not linked to you or your family. Deleting the app removes that identifier from your device (a fresh reinstall generates a brand new one), and you can stop it anytime by turning off "Share anonymous usage" in Settings.
